You better (net)work!

Ah, Rupaul.

For once, I decided to practice what I preach. SO - we're approximately T-minus 1 month until I move to the Bay area. When I get there, I need to find a place to live, buy a car, set up a bank account, select a salon (and I'm girlier than I'd like to admit - hair, nails, threading, waxing, and the list goes on and on), etc.

I'm soliciting (doesn't that sound naughty?) your input, on any of the above and more. Cool bar? Your favorite coffeeshop? A restaurant I should check out? Basically - any recommendations of people, places, services, things (or warnings, for that matter) that will make my transition easier/more fun are greatly appreciated.

If you don't feel comfortable leaving info as a comment, please drop me a line.

Thanks!!

I can highly recommend Cheese Board Pizza in Berkeley and House of Nanking in San Francisco's Chinatown if you're looking for good food.

Well, I can recommend Washington Mutual as a bank. And In-n-Out as a restaurant. And then...I've got nothing else. I'm a SoCal girl if anything :)

Hey girlie, I'm moving to the Bay Area too! First week in Sept. I need all the help I can get for great places to go - BF knows nada.

AWESOME! I'm enjoying the emails, etc. - so keep 'em coming.

I spent the evening at my parents' house cleaning up the last of my stuff here. I found poetry I wrote in 6th grade etc. - so bonus!

When you get a chance, check my blog entries in early July for the Bay Area travelogue. That's most of what I saw, and you can get the tourist traps out of the way.

As far as I can figure, the central connector of all things Bay Area law is here. And she's got tons of local links.

I'll of course put together a bunch of tips for you, but in the meanwhile, consider Cinta Salon- in addition to doing a decent job with hair, I am told they have someone who is an expert thread-ster.

Uh, Anna dear, you should probably cc me on the tips, especially where grooming/beauty is concerned, because I am still a world-class moron about that kind of shtuff. I went to Sephora for the first time in my whole life last week, and I'm still convinced you had something to do with it.
