Social commentary?

I heard each of the following songs TWICE while driving around LA:

• "Welcome to the Jungle" - GNR
• "Midnight Train to Georgia" - Gladys Knight and the Pips ( LA proved too much for the man/ He couldn't make it/ So he's leaving the life he's come to know)
  
• "Friends in Low Places" - Garth Brooks

And, yes - I listened to each one. In full. Twice.
